Disclosures filed each month on the 17 registers that name funds and that we have been reading for two years. The others are left out: a market that joined halfway would draw its own arrival as the market waking up.

How many companies are sold short, month by month

The chart shows the number of companies with at least one open position at the end of each month. It is a count of companies, never a sum of percentages. Adding 0.6% of one company to 2.4% of another gives a figure that looks like a quantity without being one.
